Double injury blow for Black Caps

Fresh off the news that pace bowler Daryl Tuffey is out for the rest of the World Cup, New Zealand have now lost another player to injury.
Opening batsman Lou Vincent’s World Cup is over, suffering a broken wrist after being hit by a ball during a nets practice. Vincent’s place is the side will be taken by Hamish Marshall who is flying out from New Zealand today and will likey slot straight into the team due to an injury to another batsman, Ross Taylor.
The New Zealand team goes into the Super Eights tomorrow morning (NZST) with quite a few injury worries. Bowler Tuffey has already gone home after injuring his biceps, replaced by Chris Martin, while Taylor is still suffering from a hamstring strain and bowler Mark Gillespie is yet to play due to a shoulder problem.
Vincent’s loss leaves New Zealand with the difficult choice of who to open the batting, a traditional problem for the Black Caps. With Nathan Astle retiring, there are no specialist opening batsmen left to partner captain Stephen Fleming. The likely replacement will be Peter Fulton.
Vincent leaves not only a hole at the top of the New Zealand order, where he scored 101 and two ducks during the group phase, but also leaves New Zealand without one of their best fieldsmen inside the circle.
