Junior All Blacks ring the changes ahead of Fiji clash
Posted by Hamish McBrearty on June 1st, 2007
The Junior All Blacks have made seven changes ahead of this Saturday’s match with Fiji in Suva, including the return of Daniel Braid as captain.
After a hard fought victory against Samoa last weekend, co-coaches Ian Foster and Colin Cooper have instituted a rotation policy, while some changes have been forced on them by injury.
Last weekend’s captain Marty Holah will play this weekend from the bench, replaced by Braid, while Jerome Kaino replaces Kieran Read, giving the Juniors a new flanker pairing.
Crusaders’ props Wyatt Crockett and Campbell Johnstone move into the front row and their Crusaders’ team-mate Ross Filipo starts at lock in place of the injured Hoani MacDonald.
In the back-line Jimmy Cowan is rested in favour of Andy Ellis and Blues’ winger Anthony Tuitavake comes into the side for Scott Hamilton.
Fiji are not expected to challenge the Juniors despite being at the top of the table in the Pacific Nations Cup, but the experience will be invaluable for them.
