FFA send strong message with Vukovic suspension, but what about Joel Griffith?

The Football Federation of Australia (FFA) have suspended Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Danny Vukovic for nine months, plus a further six months probation for violent conduct after he slapped referee Mark Shields’ hand. This may seem like a strong message that touching officials will not be tolerated, but this is also same body who did not suspend Newcastle’s Joel Griffith when he struck an assistant referee.

Can we stop pretending all in well for the Phoenix?

The Wellington Phoenix crashed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United over the weekend, extending their losing streak to four games. The fans continue to rally behind their team, but the cries of “it can only get better” are getting a little tiresome, especially as things continue to get worse for the club.

Phoenix must improve back four to make playoff charge

The Wellington Phoenix sit six points outside the top four and start a three game road trip which will make or break their season. In their first A-League season they have shown a great deal of promise up front, but it is their defence which must improve if they are to claim a post season spot.

Late Petrovski winner extinguishes Phoenix hopes

The league leading Central Coast Mariners came into town and claimed all three points as the Wellington Phoenix once again imploded on defence and went down 2-1 at Westpac Stadium.

Jets douse Phoenix for comfortable home win

Both teams were depleted with players on international duty but the Newcastle Jets took all three points as they put away the Wellington Phoenix 2-0 in their A League clash at Energy Australia Stadium in Newcastle.
